Comparison edited by Complement, last updated July 2026.

In short.

Public prices as observed in July 2026, subject to change — check the vendor's website. Rise 360 is included in the Articulate 360 subscription (with Storyline 360). The creation time is a Complement estimate and varies with complexity.

Creation & speed

Rise 360 is one of the fastest tools on the market for producing web courses: you assemble ready-made blocks, the responsive rendering is automatic, and "Magic Import" can generate blocks from a document. It's a real advantage for publishing a clean course quickly.

Complement takes this logic further: instead of assembling blocks, you import your PowerPoint or PDF and the AI generates a complete conversational module in ~1h30 (based on our measurements). The difference isn't only speed, it's the nature of the result: a conversation, not a page to scroll through.

Engagement & pedagogy

A Rise course is consumed mostly in a linear way: the learner scrolls through blocks and answers a few quizzes. It's clear and effective, but the interaction stays limited and assessment relies on closed questions.

Complement places the learner in a conversation with an AI avatar that prompts and adapts, then assesses them orally. This active pedagogy supports retention and hands-on practice, and the analytics show where learners drop off so you can improve the module.

Integrations & standards

Rise 360 exports to SCORM, xAPI and cmi5 — enough to deliver your courses in most LMSs. However, it does not expose a native LTI integration.

Complement exports to SCORM and integrates via LTI 1.3, or is used directly as a platform. For European organisations, hosting in France (GDPR) is an advantage over Articulate's US infrastructure.

Pricing & model

Rise 360 is not sold on its own: it is part of the Articulate 360 subscription, starting at around $1,449/user/year (July 2026), billed per designer. A common rumour mentions a low-cost standalone Rise — not confirmed by the vendor: it's safer to reason at the price of the full suite.

Complement bills by usage (€5/h/learner) or by learner licence (€6/learner/month billed annually), plus a designer licence at €39/month. The cost tracks usage and the number of learners rather than the number of designers. See our pricing.

When to choose Rise 360 over Complement

Rise remains an excellent choice in several situations.

  • You already subscribe to Articulate 360 and want to make the most of the suite.
  • Your need is to quickly produce linear responsive courses that are attractive and simple to update.
  • You don't need conversational AI or oral assessment, and the "slides/blocks" format suits your content.
  • You need to export to cmi5 or to combine Rise with advanced Storyline modules.

When Complement is the better choice

  • You want a conversational module and an oral assessment, not a course to scroll through.
  • You start from an existing document (PowerPoint, PDF) and want to transform it in ~1h30.
  • You train cohorts and want to track learning through analytics.
  • Hosting in France (GDPR) and LTI 1.3 integration matter to you.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rise 360 included with Storyline?

Yes. Rise 360 and Storyline 360 are part of the same Articulate 360 subscription: you don't buy them separately. Rise is the suite's fast web tool, while Storyline is the desktop tool for advanced interactivity.

Does Rise 360 have AI?

Rise 360 includes Articulate's "AI Assistant": draft and outline generation, "Magic Import" of blocks from a document, quiz creation and synthetic voices. But to our knowledge, as of July 2026, it does not offer a conversational AI avatar that talks with the learner, nor oral assessment, unlike Complement.

Is Complement as fast as Rise 360?

Rise is already fast at producing responsive block-based courses. Complement goes further by starting directly from your PowerPoint or PDF: the AI generates a complete conversational module in about 1h30, with dialogue and oral assessment, not just a linear layout.

Rise 360 or Complement for cohorts?

Rise is billed through the Articulate 360 subscription per designer (~$1,449/user/year); courses are then delivered in your LMS. Complement offers a learner licence (€6/learner/month billed annually) plus tracking analytics: the model is clearer when the goal is to train and measure large cohorts.
