Building a module: hours… or a few minutes
Rise 360 is one of the fastest tools on the market for producing web courses: you assemble ready-made blocks, responsive rendering is automatic, and "Magic Import" can generate blocks from a document. It is a real asset for publishing a clean course quickly.
Complement starts from the other end. You import a PowerPoint or a PDF, and the AI helps you build a first conversational module in a few minutes. It is then up to you to choose your level of involvement: let the AI write the content of each slide, or take back control to dictate it yourself by voice and add your teaching, your anecdotes and your experience of the subject, which is what makes a course truly rich. Speed does not replace your expertise, it frees up time for it.

A Rise course is mostly consumed in a linear way: the learner scrolls through blocks and answers a few quizzes. It is clear and effective, but interaction stays limited and assessment happens through closed questions.
Complement bets on conversational interaction: the learner talks with an AI avatar that responds, prompts and adapts, then is assessed out loud. It is active learning, closer to an interview or a role-play than to a questionnaire, and analytics make it possible to improve the module continuously.
Dropping it into your LMS
Rise 360 exports to SCORM, xAPI and cmi5: enough to deliver your courses in most LMSs. However, it does not expose a native LTI integration.
Complement works differently, and more simply. A module is not imported as a package: it is added to your LMS as an external resource, via a simple LTI link. Connected over LTI 1.4, it reports activity directly in the LMS: time spent on the resource, quiz results, learner progress, just as a SCORM module would but with no file to manage. On the data side, since Rise is a SaaS tool, the final content is hosted on your own LMS (often in Europe for a French organisation); Complement hosts the platform and the learning data in France and the EU (GDPR).
Per designer, or per usage
Rise 360 is not sold on its own: it is part of the Articulate 360 subscription, from around $1,449/user/year (as observed in July 2026), billed per designer. A frequent rumour mentions a low-cost standalone Rise, not confirmed by the publisher: it is safer to reason at the price of the full suite.
Complement offers two models: per usage (€5/h/learner, ideal for POCs) or per learner licence (€6/learner/month on an annual plan, for cohorts), with a designer licence at €39/month. When to choose Rise 360 over Complement
Rise remains an excellent choice in several situations.
- You are already subscribed to Articulate 360 and want to get the most out of the suite.
- Your need is to quickly produce linear responsive courses that are attractive and easy to update.
- You do not need conversational AI or oral assessment, and the "slides/blocks" format suits your content.
- You need to export to cmi5 or combine Rise with advanced Storyline modules.
When Complement is the better choice
The real difference is not speed: it is what your learners retain. A classic e-learning module is "consumed": you watch a video, you click, you tick the box… and you forget. Complement makes learners practise: role-plays, simulations, working on behaviours and job-specific skills out loud, complex exercises. The learner does not just "see" the content: they have understood it, put it in their own words and applied it. That is the whole Complement approach: to train for real, so that the knowledge stays.

Yes. Rise 360 and Storyline 360 are part of the same Articulate 360 subscription: you do not buy them separately. Rise is the fast web tool in the suite, Storyline the desktop tool for advanced interactivity.
Does Rise 360 have AI?
Rise 360 includes Articulate's "AI Assistant": draft and outline generation, "Magic Import" of blocks from a document, quiz creation, synthetic voice. But to our knowledge, in July 2026, it does not offer a conversational AI avatar that talks with the learner, nor oral assessment, unlike Complement.
Is Complement as fast as Rise 360?
